Frontiers of Flight Museum Receives Aerospace-STEM Challenge Grant for Girls from The PPG Foundation

Dallas, Texas – December 11, 2023 – The Frontiers of Flight Museum (FOFM), is proud to announce a financial grant for the Aerospace-STEM Challenge for Girls from the PPG Foundation.

The grant will allow more than 4,000 girls from underserved neighborhoods in Dallas County to participate in the PPG Aerospace-STEM Challenge for Girls program in 2024. This program provides access for girls to learn from women in senior leadership roles in the aerospace industry during career month, 1-1 connections to varying educational and career on-ramps sources, specific curriculum and tours.

Additionally, PPG employees will continue to actively volunteer in the Museum’s programs through Aerospace-STEM Career Day, Engineers Week, Spring Break STEM Camp, and in other educational events like Moon Day.

“PPG, and the PPG Foundation are fully committed to supporting the development of the next generation of engineers and scientists. As FOFM advances the program and creates meaningful and engaging experiences for the girls who participate, we are thrilled to help the museum realize its vision to improve society using the power of aerospace and see more girls take an interest in the industry,” said Kevin Brooks, global director, aerospace transparencies, PPG and FOFM Board Chair.

“We recognize that diversity in these fields enhances innovation and contributes to a more robust and inclusive aerospace industry. By promoting equity, we aim to break down barriers and unconscious bias that may limit access to education and opportunities, ensuring that those from all backgrounds can contribute to and benefit from advancements in aerospace” said, Abigail Erickson-Torres, CEO, FOFM.

The Frontiers of Flight Museum, dedicated to preserving the history of aviation, space exploration, and Aerospace-STEM education, is well-positioned to expand its impact with this significant grant. The museum remains devoted to inspiring and educating visitors of all ages and stages about the history and future of flight.
