Young Women’s STEM Leadership Initiative students carry photos of World War II Medal of Honor recipients

The students from the Young Women’s STEM Leadership Initiative also carried images of Texas Medal of Honor recipients for the Museum’s 2015 entry in the Greater Dallas Veterans Day Parade.

Leading our parade entry this year will again be students from the Grand Prairie Young Women’s Leadership Academy at Arnold, carrying posters with pictures of World War II Medal of Honor recipients from Texas.

1943 Willys MB Jeep with Gold Star family

Museum supporter Pat Koester drove “Rosie the Riveter” (Lisa Foster) for the 2015 parade.

Museum supporter Pat Koester will drive his beautifully restored and fully-equipped 1943 Willys MB Jeep. In keeping with this year’s parade theme, “Honoring the Military Family,” Pat will be driving one of the area’s Gold Star families: Museum Curator Lieutenant Colonel Robert F. Welch, II, U.S. Army retired; his daughter-in-law Rebecca, widow of Lieutenant Robert F. Welch, III; and her sons, Robert F. Welch, IV and Aden Welch.

Museum’s Living History performers to appear

Museum Volunteer Bill Blake and two of his fellow Mustang convertible owners, Ron Young and Bill Weible, will drive three of our Living History performers —“The Red Baron” (Don Gatewood), “Orville Wright” (Jim Kemper), and “Amelia Earhart” (Maxine Capua).

Frontier Flyer with Army Veterans

Our Frontier Flyer educational aircraft will round out our parade entry. At the Flyer’s controls will be Army Purple Heart Veteran Greg Callow and Army Veteran Albert Rodriguez from our corporate partner UPS, representing the UPS Veterans Group which sponsors veteran-related events at the Museum including free admission on special occasions for veterans and their families.
