Research Library

This extensive collection, which formed initially with books received from the University of Texas’ History of Aviation collection, offers a comprehensive survey of non-fiction aviation and space literature.

The Research Library includes many unique and rare items, and consists of books, limited periodicals, models and artifacts, multimedia, artwork, manuals, plus a large number of photos, papers, clippings, articles, and other archival materials.

Popular mass-circulation aviation magazines, which are generally available through other sources, are not housed in the Research Library. However, the Research Library does have limited issues of some older and harder-to-find periodicals.

Research Library items are reference materials and are not available for loan. We encourage researchers wishing to visit the Research Library to contact us in advance, state the nature of the research, and specify a preferred time to visit. All visits to the Research Library are by-appointment only. We regret that the Museum is unable to assist with reference inquiries.

The Museum's Research Library is the "Control Center" for the Museum Collection and serves as the Museum Registrar's office. In addition to the books, models, artifacts, artwork, and archival items contained within the Research Library, the facility is home to our Collections control database of more than 35,000 records.
