LOVE ON ICE
January 21, 2017 » 6:00PM – 9:00PM
Dr. Pepper Star Center, Farmers Branch
Fly Paper Airplanes!
Museum staff and volunteers will be on hand,
teaching kids how to fold and fly paper airplanes
at the Love Field Centennial Celebration event, Love on Ice.
Love on Ice commemorates that time in Love Field’s colorful history when there was an entertainment center called “LLOVE” in the terminal building that included an ice skating rink in the area where passengers now line up to go through the TSA security check. This was only possible due to the fact that when DFW Regional (now International) Airport opened in January 1974, all the major airlines had moved their operations out of Love Field, leaving a great deal of empty space in the terminal. The LLOVE entertainment center operated from November 1975 to May 1978.
Love on Ice is part of a series of monthly events celebrating the airport’s upcoming Centennial in October 2017, presented by The City of Dallas Aviation Department, which operates Love Field.
