Exploration Space Initiative Launched!

The Exploration Space Initiative is a multi-faceted expansion of the Museum’s STEM programming and exhibits that includes:

  • Our new Space Portal Odyssey Capsule, “SPOC,” an engaging and immersive digital portable planetarium experience for on-site and outreach programming
  • A vastly upgraded Space Flight Gallery with interactive learning stations and new displays anchored by the Apollo VII Command Module
  • The production of an interdisciplinary educational video series about America’s Apollo space program
  • A web-based e-learning component will globally project the Museum’s mission

What a lineup of STARS! On Monday, October 24, 2016 the Museum launched our new EXPLORATION SPACE INITIATIVE with the help of Capt. Fred Haise, Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo XIII, Col. Walter Cunningham, Lunar Module Pilot of Apollo VII,  and Marty Turco, NHL All-Star Goalie, former Dallas Stars #35 and President of C5 Youth Foundation of Texas. It included a conversation with Fred Haise, Walt Cunningham and more than 200 8th grade girls who participate in the Museum’s Young Women’s STEM Leadership Initiative and a ribbon-cutting ceremony of “SPOC,” (Space Portal Odyssey Capsule), our new portable planetarium.
